Welcome to the2bears

What can you find here? You can find my games and read about their development (click the images on the left).

I also write a lot about indie shooters, mobile games, and just about any game with a unique style. I also write about devices, especially ones that can connect to networks in some way. In fact, I really love connecting devices to networks.

There's even a little about connecting devices to networks to play games, which I have done a lot of. Mostly, though, you will find lots of links to games. Some are good, some are great, and some are downright bad. That's the fun of exploring. You can also find out more About Me.

Rockin’ Android

Posted in everything, games, must have, shmups at 8:25 pm by the2bears

Rockin’ Android appears to be publishing some dojin games “over here” this year. I think this is a great idea, with Acceleration of SUGURI, GUNDEMONIUM Collection (with Hitogota Hapa!) and Flying Red Barrel available soon. Thanks to sfried for the news.

Vector Scape Pulse

Posted in competitions, everything, games, mobile, rapid prototyping, shmups, web at 10:43 pm by the2bears

Vector Scape Pulse is Ablach Blackrat‘s entry in Session 10: Somebody set up us the bomb. The pace of this game really fits in with how the theme was interpreted.

The game is a gallery shooter with a variety of enemies. You shoot them with a pulse weapon, charging them to subsequently detonate them. Charge them for longer and the resulting explosion takes out a bunch of the surrounding ships. There’s even a boss, that in order to defeat you must explode the smaller ships around it.

For now the game is quite easy, but I think it shows some promise. It’s a simple mechanic that with some interesting levels and enemies could make for a good game.

Cave Fish

Cave Fish is jakman4242‘s entry in Session 10: Somebody set up us the bomb.

Not to be confused with the Japanese game of the same name, jakman4242‘s game interprets the theme in an interesting way. You have a limited supply of bombs that when released detonate with a barrage of bullets. You can focus these by holding down the right mouse button before this happens.

I think this is an idea that could really work With more enemies and a variety of bombs, the levels could be designed around their unique behaviours.

InterXept

InterXept is kdmiller3‘s entry in Session 10: Somebody set up us the bomb. It’s a much simpler approach than my try, and I think the better for it.

The game plays with the arrow keys, ‘Z‘ for shooting, and ‘X‘ for bombs. Over time your bomb meter increases, allowing you to gain up to 8 bombs. The great thing here is the bombs also act as options, increasing your firepower. Additionally, they also act as shields of a sort… get hit, lose a bomb. It works really well.

Make sure you make the change detailed here, though, otherwise your game will be over much sooner.

Session 10: Somebody set up us the bomb received an extension of one week. Still, only 4 games were submitted, but they’re all pretty interesting. Try them out and vote for your favourite.
