The Divorce

It’s the beginning of the month and once again time to check in on Petri at Kloonigames. This month’s game is The Divorce, and is partly inspired by Rod Humble‘s The Marriage.

Yes, the game looks like Pong, obviously intentional and a very personal way for Petri to describe his feelings on his parents’ divorce. This is something I cannot relate to, but I can gain a little understanding of what it must have felt like through the choice of Pong as the message’s medium. Says Petri, “(I) decided to create my own abstract art game”, and in my opinion he has succeeded.

Update: Obviously an April Fool’s joke that had me completely fooled :)

That is awesome, you had me completely fooled :) I was thinking “poor guy, really messed up over his parents’ divorce.”

Ryan, it’s always awkward to be me ;)

I was really surprised how effective the joke was. I haven’t received a single “April Fools’ Joke?” comment. Maybe I should start doing art games for real…

I’m a sucker for these things, but I think the choice of subject matter was effective. No one wanted to say anything in case the game really was a “cry for help” :)

Got a real life laugh out loud from me :)

If you want a smaller but higher quality picture then a Plasma TV would be a good
option as these can be purchased at sizes up to 65 inches, and therefore still providing you with
a big screen viewing experience. But television do not provide the same
pleasure of watching a movie as does movie theatre with its huge screen and surround sound system.

Hence, the people are well educated and highly concerned about the development
of the region and keenly look forward to make their lives always easy.
