Shining Storm
Shining Storm is sharpobject’s entry for the AutoFire 2007 Shooter Competition.
The game offers simple controls, just arrows to move and ‘Z‘ to shoot, but in return it offers some of the best bullet patterns (via BulletML) of the contest. The challenge then is to learn the patterns, as they don’t repeat much. Your first run through the game is guaranteed fo a few surprises as you get caught by a sudden shift in a bullet’s velocity.
I really like the art in this. The smeared, subtle shading of the backgrounds with the lightening effect and the ship designs all mesh really well together. A little short in gameplay, I hope to see this one further developed.
