Wonderfl is an interesting new Flash collaboration site I found through Kenta Cho‘s diary. The idea is that you can edit your Flash code online, it’s compiled server-side, then displayed in a window next to the editor. Where it gets really interesting is in “forking” different bits of code, taking an existing application and modifying it. The relationships between the code iterations are maintained, creating an evolution that’s interesting to trace.

BallBlast is a quick little game put together by Mr. Cho, though it has yet to be forked. Another interesting game is AAShip (ASCII Art Ship), forked 3 times already by Kenta and another time by tarai. User generated content is only as good as the community, but this seems to have a lot of potential. Reminds me of a more facilitated Rect Winder (discussed more here).

Here’s a look at the code, I was trying to embed the game but I haven’t figured that out yet. Try the links above to see this in action. One thing I’d like to see on the site is a map of the code tree. As it is now, I think you have to keep following “forked by” links.
