Choke on my Groundhog, YOU BASTARD ROBOTS

Choke on my Groundhog, YOU BASTARD ROBOTS is Petri Purho‘s latest experimental game. This one is pure fun, one of the best so far. And that’s saying a lot.

It’s basically an arena shooter, ‘WASD‘ or arrows to move, mouse to shoot. The wide-screen format makes it a little different, but it’s a nice touch with the “notebook” look.

Petri utilizes a “go back in time” mechanic as well, where your present self joins in with all your past selves from that level. This makes for some awesome explosions as the screen fills with bullets. It also opens up some time paradox questions, and shows that it’s best to leave them alone ;)

Thanks for the kind words. I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed playing the game a lot. I kinda ran out of time with this one again. There were some stuff that I would have liked to add to the game. Like the use of those rescued ghosts…

The use of the “rescued ghosts” really does open up some tough questions. If you are all concentrating on firing at a big robot, it’s killed earlier. So now what? Do all the ghosts adjust their shooting via AI and further damage the time-line? ;)

I started thinking about this, and I think the only thing I might try is this: If they’re saved, then they gain “AI” at the time of their death (in the alternate reality). Before that, they play through exactly the script they wrote.

    I’m all confused now!

The link seems to be broken, and the time paradox you mention made me want to play this game so bad :’(

Petri’s site seems to be down at the moment… I’d try again tomorrow, just a temporary glitch I’m sure :(
