Revenge of the Titans

Posted in everything, games at 4:38 pm by the2bears

I missed seeing this in the summer, but I’m missing a lot these days. Puppygames is showing off Revenge of the Titans. Looks a little RTS with some Tower Defense thrown in. It’s quite a different style from past games, but it really does look like a lot of fun.

Flower Killing Thing…

Posted in everything, games, shmups at 5:47 pm by the2bears

Pixel_Outlaw has a tentatively titled concept up at the Shmup forums. I like it so far, a simple concept but lots of room for interesting enemies and game play.

I would like the game to be over if a flower reaches the blue inner border of the screen. Also I might like to have bees come out of the flowers and fire at the player on occasion.

Works for me. Go with a simple level scheme: each level introduce a new bug, flower, fruit, or similar enemy or behaviour.

DSiWare

Posted in everything, games, mobile, shmups at 11:03 am by the2bears

Genterprise have announced a couple of shmups on DSiWare. Z-One and Wonder Land. Price is around $2 each, which is certainly cheap. Hard to imagine making any money on this (volume, lots of volume). But at that price there’s no excuse for not trying them out, the exception being Nintendo‘s ridiculous decision to region lock DSi games. Via Joystiq.

Captain Forever

Posted in everything, games, shmups, video at 6:44 pm by the2bears

I like what I see in this video of Captain Forever. Visually there’s a little bit of Warning Forever here, while game play looks like you’ve got an in game editor ;) No, not an editor, but you seem to be able to attache pieces of destroyed enemies in a very deliberate manner (unlike Tumiki Fighters for instance).
