Aa Mujou Setsuna looks promising from the trailers. It’s by Arika, who did the Ketsui Death Label boss rush for the Nintendo DS. The latter plays really well on the portable device, and I spent quite a bit of time with it again on my recent trip to Taiwan. Aa Mujou Setsuna is for the DSi download service, which is region locked. Hopefully this will get released here as well as Japan. There’s really no reason not to, but then again there’s really no reason to region lock either.
I can’t think of any other shmups that went from being indie PC games to location tests in Akihabara. Well deserved and interesting development for Exception. The arcade board is of course PC based. The official arcade site is here, with some videos here. Movie01 seems to show a new level, with a cool rolling enemy.
AuthenticKaizen has a new site up, Pixel Prospector. The site tracks promising indie games that are “in development”. Something that AK has been doing for awhile now over in the TIGForums. This promises to be a great resource. Lots of good shmups tracked there.
Insectoid is looking for some Beta testers. Send your computer information (Mac/Windows and OS version) and your age to Vern (vern(at)actionsoft.com). He’ll reply in about a week.
Oddbob sent me news of a new Kenta Cho game. I’ve been checking every day as it’s a little over due Haven’t even tried it yet, but here’s a video of GearToyGear.
