Bugs Rider
Bugs Rider is another Korean MMO shmup. Sounds different, as the multi-player mode is turn based. Postman has been able to log in and play, and he’s made the video below.

failrate commented that he could have a Flash version of glitchDS done by today. He has achieved just that. His sequencer is here, and the source code is here. One difference (I think) is failrate activates the sound trigger each iteration, while glitchDS activates it only on cell “birth”.
glitchDS is one of the more interesting projects I’ve seen recently. It’s “a FREE homebrew Cellular Automaton music sequencer for the Nintendo DS.”
For me, a computer music rookie, this means that Conway’s Life is used to generate both a rhythm, and a selection of sounds played to that rhythm. Triggers for sounds are placed in various cells in the Life grid, and iterations of the world then play the music.
As a sometimes stubborn developer I often think I should be able to create everything in a game, including the graphics and sound. This will just perpetuate that fantasy
I really do think, though, that it’s an obvious fit for Relentless Automata. It’s also the first time I’ve been motivated to work on that for quite awhile.
Noiz2sa and rRootage are being shown off running on an iPhone. Definitely cool for cool’s sake, but it seems to me a bit futile to play given your hand is blocking a lot of the screen. rRootage looks to be running slower than I remember. Thanks to nimitz at the Shmups Forum for the links.
