Cyberspace Assault
Next up from the Horizontal Shooter with Boss Competition is Cyberspace Assault.
Another good entry, this has an abstract graphics style reminiscent of Kenta Cho’s games and other Japanese shmups. Some nice thought has gone into the gameplay: you have two types of shots, a straight beam and one that bends somewhat under your control. Press both buttons and you have a shield that recharges when you’re not shooting. As if that wasn’t enough, you can graze bullets for points, there’s a “slow” button for precision flying, and a scoring bonus scheme.
