Irukandji
Irukandji is a new score attack shmup from Charlie’s Games. It may be only one level, but with six ships to unlock it has plenty of play value. Especially because it’s a rather well done score attack.
The graphics and production values are as good as anything Charlie‘s done. The music is also top notch, and really fits in with the underwater theme. The procedurally generated sea creatures are intriguing from a developer’s point of view.
I’m not quite sure how the score attack works, but it seems the more enemies you shoot (and the quicker you do it?) the faster power-ups appear and the faster your multiplier increases. This fits in, I think, with the ‘Z‘, ‘ZX‘, and ‘X‘ buttons controlling your shots (left, center, and right aiming). The only thing I’d like to see is this made more clear, and if so, a greater stress on directional shooting for speed and score.
Finally, Charlie is only asking a “minimum amount” of $1 for the game. Give a little more and offset the Paypal charges. It’s very entertaining and there’s something great about trying to get your name on the leader board. Plus it has a Giant Crab Boss!

The scoring works pretty much like you mention. every 50 enemies you kill a new power-up appears. once you’re fully powered up, each of the bonuses you collect increase your multiplier. That’s about it really. The big pod like enemeies at the end of the level can spawn more or less enemies depeding on how you shoot them, and what you shoot them with.
Thanks for the mention
Cheers

The enemies seem to be made up of blended particles and it looks …err…
gelatinous and totally cool.
And i would gladly pay for a few more levels (i know, i know, it’s score attack…)
