Knightly in the Dark Forest

Knightly in the Dark Forest is a new game by Pixel Licker. Demo version 1.03, with apparently 1 level, is available for downloading now. The artist/developer, Thomas “Reggie” Schreiber, has considerable industry experience and it shows in the production quality of the game.

The art in the game is very well done. It’s really great to see so many pixel artists taking the time to make stuff for what is now an older genre. The game itself feels like it’s been made by someone who “knows a bit about shmups”, and it’s definitely a good thing. The first level shows off some interesting and inventive enemies. Love the cauldron boss!

The game play is fairly straight forward, auto-fire for a focused shot or tap for a wider shot. As you destroy enemies you build up your shield. Trigger it and absorb bullets to increase your multiplier.

A great first indie game for Pixel Licker.

Loving this game. The graphics are the best pixel graphics I’ve seen in a long time and the music to go with the game adds to the whole atmosphere.

I’ll be keeping an eye on this one however long it takes.

I’m off now to give it another few goes.

Been playing this for a while now and I think I’ve heard the music to this somewhere else? I think It was in Klonoa on the Play Station 1.

Anyone else think they have heard it before?

    Cool music though
