The Amazing Flying Brothers

Posted in everything, games, rapid prototyping at 8:48 pm by the2bears

Part of my monthly ritual now is checking in with Petri Purho at Kloonigames to see the latest of his experimental games. The Amazing Flying Brothers is another take on one button design.

The only button you need to worry about in the game is your left mouse button. As your character holds on to the trapeze, you can accelerate, slow down, and let go all with a click. There’s more to this than meets the eye, because as you get the timing you soon realize you can swing around and come flying in from above!

You can see the remains of my many attempts littering the floor of the ring. All accompanied with something called “Bone Cracking.wav” :) Great fun.

And it’s also my monthly ritual to thank you for writing a blog post about my newest game :) So thanks you, again.

But seriously Bill, I think your bloging skills aren’t as sharp as they used to be. I mean this time there were total of two comments and a blog post before your post. Compare that to last month. I wasn’t done testing that the download link of Crayon Physics worked and you already had the blog post out. ;)

But seriously seriously, thanks again for bloging a game of mine.

Hey, give me a break :) It was July 1st, Canada Day, and I was drunk off of some Molson’s :)

And I do enjoy your projects, I’m as interested now in rapid prototyping as I am shmups. Almost.

Ok, the Canada Day is a valid reason. But make sure you shape up next time :)

Seriously I’m in awe of your bloging speed. Just look at the Squidi’s 300 project, I didn’t find enough time to write a blog post about it, before it was over :)

Sometimes I just get lucky, but it helps being “online” all day, and most of the evening. There are always a couple computers on at home, and my wife is a bit of a blogger too. My son, 6 1/2 years old, jokes about having blogs :P Cats in the Cradle and all that.

But yeah, with timing I’m usually lucky. Like the recent Blast Arena cartridges, by chance I happened on MrD’s site again, just after he announced. And the last couple of Kenta Cho games came out just as I hit his pages :)

Thankfully, you are kind enough to coincide your games with the full moon… or something like that ;)

    Bill
